CS Patch Cord

Senko CS™ connector is designed for next generation 200/400G transceiver QSFP-DD and OSFP, meeting the requirement for CWDM4, FR4, LR4 and SR2. The reduced size CS™ connector is not only capable of delivering low insertion and high return loss comparable to existing LC connectors, but it does so with a reduced footprint. Working with the QSFP-DD and OSFP pluggable form factors, the CS™ connector accentuates ease of fiber breakout.

CS Patch Cord

CS Connector Designed for next gen 200/400G transceiver QSFP-DD and OSFP

Data centers around the world are growing in bandwidth capacity. With the commercial adoption of 200 and 400 Gbps starting in 2019, market volumes will continue to be driven by both parallel (SR4, PSM4 or DR4) and multi-wavelength (FR4, LR4 or CWDM) technologies.  CS Adapters offer reduced ferrule pitch and higher density than LC connectors, and they support next-generation 200/400G QSFP-DD and OSFP transceivers.

Network uplinks need to move to higher speeds to match servers. The IEEE has released a new standard (IEEE 802.3.bs-2017), but currently there are parallel and WDM transceiver structures for 200/400G QSFP-DD/OSFP, each needing 8 optical lanes. Due to the QSFP interface, 2X duplex LC connectors cannot fit in the QSFP-DD/OSFP form factor. Therefore, network customers have requested a new LC design to fit the QSFP-DD/OSFP interface. In response, Molex has developed solutions incorporating CS Connectors for use with QSFP-DD and OSFP transceivers to increase port density in 100/200/400G applications.

Even though bandwidth has increased, operators expect to keep the same space. Therefore, the marketplace is demanding a reduction to the duplex LC connector pitch or a new design for a more compact LC housing. Molex designed the CS connector to deliver a nearly 50% space savings over the standard LC connector.
